FAQ

Common questions

Is Vault really free?

Yes. Vault is free to use — no subscription, no premium tier, and no credit card required to sign up or use any feature.

Do I have to link my bank account?

No. Vault never asks for bank credentials. You add income and expenses manually, like a digital ledger — that's the whole point.

Where is my data stored?

Your transactions are stored privately in your Vault account. Only you can see them after signing in. There are no third-party ad trackers on the site, and your data isn't sold.

What currencies does Vault support?

Vault supports CAD, USD, AUD, PHP, EUR, GBP, JPY, and several others. You set your default currency in Settings after signing in.

Can I export my transactions?

Yes. From the Transactions page you can download a CSV of every transaction you've recorded — yours to keep, even if you stop using Vault.

Does Vault work on phones?

Yes. The site is responsive and works in any modern browser. You can also install Vault as a Progressive Web App on iOS or Android — it adds a home-screen icon and runs full-screen, no app-store account needed.

Why no bank sync?

Bank sync requires storing aggregator credentials (Plaid or similar), which means a third party can see your transactions. Manual entry trades a few seconds of typing for keeping that data inside your own account.

How is Vault different from a spreadsheet?

A spreadsheet is excellent if you like to maintain everything by hand. Vault adds: automatic budget progress with color-coded bars, recurring bill reminders, monthly summaries with charts, savings goals with monthly contribution targets, and CSV export so you're never locked in.
